How Does a Hepa Air Filter Work?

This air purifier/cleaner can remove contaminants up to 0.3 microns, making it effective for filtering mould spores and soot particles. They can also be used to remove smoke/soot smell from the air through the use of a carbon filter. To increase the efficiency and life of the unit there are essentially 3 levels of filtration inside the unit.

Hepa Primary Filter

Changed at least once a year, the primary filter is HEPA rated, and can filter contaminants down to 0.3 microns.

Hepa Pre-filter

To be replaced frequently, the pre-filter is useful for protecting the Hepa filter. It acts as a barrier to catch larger contaminants in the air, and therefore protecting the HEPA filter from unnecessary contaminants.

Carbon filter

This is a carbon filter that is installed on top of the pre-filter and the Primary filter. It is only used in fire damage and smoke odour removal jobs. Air scrubbers are only effective at removal smoke odour with the carbon filter.

We have a stock of pre-filters and carbon filters available for purchase with the hiring unit at our warehouse. Our friendly staff can let you know the consumable cost for this.
